The admissions process

Six stages, in order, from first reading a program page to joining a cohort.

   Step 1: Explore Programs

   Start by reading the program pages. Each one describes the curriculum, the weekly time commitment, and who the program is designed for, so you can judge fit before you apply.

2. 02

   Step 2: Submit Application

   When a cohort is accepting applications, you apply to that specific program through our secure admissions system. One application covers one program and one cohort.

3. 03

   Step 3: Individual Review

   Every application is read individually by our admissions team. We look at readiness, program fit, and your responses rather than scoring applicants against one another.

4. 04

   Step 4: Admissions Decision

   Decisions are communicated by email to the address on your application. If a program is not the right starting point, the admissions decision may include guidance about a more appropriate next step.

5. 05

   Step 5: Enrollment Deposit & Payment

   Payment is only discussed after an admissions decision. Accepted applicants receive written enrollment and deposit instructions, including deadlines, before anything is due.

6. 06

   Step 6: Cohort Onboarding

   Once enrollment is complete, you receive onboarding details: your schedule, platform access, preparation materials, and how cohort communication will work.

What admissions looks for

Admissions considers the following, in the context of the program you applied to.

• Readiness for the selected program

  Whether the program you chose matches where you are today, so you begin at a level that supports real progress.

• Ability to commit to the published schedule

  Cohorts move together. We consider whether the published weekly commitment is realistic alongside your current responsibilities.

• Alignment with program prerequisites

  Some programs require earlier coursework. We confirm that any published prerequisite for the program has been met.

• Thoughtful application responses

  Clear, specific answers about your goals help us understand what you are working toward and how the program would support it.

• Readiness for cohort-based participation

  Readiness to participate consistently in a shared learning environment, including the published schedule, collaborative activities, and cohort expectations.

Program prerequisites

• Cyber Foundations

  No prior cybersecurity experience is required. This is the Institute's Tier I entry point and is designed for people beginning or redirecting their careers.

• PKI Career Pathway Cohort

  Successful completion of Cyber Foundations is currently required. This Tier II cohort builds directly on the skills and portfolio work developed in Tier I.

• Future Tier II programs

  Program-specific prerequisites will be published when admissions open for each additional Tier II pathway.

Request Guidance or apply to a program

These are two separate paths. Requesting guidance is a conversation; an application begins an admissions review.

After acceptance

Accepted applicants receive each of the following, in sequence and in writing:

No payment is collected during the application. Accepted applicants receive written deposit and payment instructions before enrollment is finalized.
